I attended graduate school at the College of New Jersey, where I completed a practicum working with Domestic Violence victims and survivors. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida since 1993, following two years of supervised work experience with the Broward County Child Protection Team. During the next few years, I gained further experience working with the State of Florida and Miami-Dade County in the field of substance abuse and addictions.

In 1996, I became a Certified Addictions Professional and in 1997, earned a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality. I combined the two fields to specialize in working with sexual addicts and their partners.

After attending some support groups early in my career, I became interested in working with transgendered individuals. I went on to specialize with this population and, due to the lack of professionals with knowledge in this area, I began providing services to transgendered people around the country by telephone.

I continue to work with a wide variety of individuals, couples, and groups with an equally wide variety of concerns. I teach graduate courses at a local university, conduct custody investigations for the courts, and provide training for nurses and social workers at hospitals throughout South Florida. I am also a continuing education provider for the Department of Health and a Certified Supervisor for counseling and social work interns. I provide workshops to businesses on Sexual Harassment in order to educate employers and employees about this serious issue. This training teaches participants how to handle situations before they become problematic, using lecture and role playing.

I effectively employ a variety of interventions to assist my clients attain optimal growth and mental health in their lives. Interventions include cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential and reality therapy, to name a few. I am Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, a technique that is extremely effective in treating traumas, phobias, and generally disturbing thoughts and memories.

I provide initial consultations by telephone or e-mail with no charge so that anyone interested in counseling/therapy may discuss their needs and concerns.
